PASSPORT ISSUED TO ABORIGINE

MELBOURNE, Friday.
Approval has been given for a New South Wales aborigine, Raymond Peckham, to be issued with a passport similarly worded to those issued to Australians in general, the Minister for Immigration (Mr. Holt) said today.

It is understood that Peckham is one of more than a hundred Australians leaving within a "few weeks to attend the World Youth Festival in the Soviet sector of Berlin in August.

Mr. Holt said that the approval had been given after inquiries customary in the case of aborigines seeking passports, including a report from the N.S.W. Aborigines Welfare Board.
