During this period the mainstream Australian media conducted a scare campaign about a supposedly violent threat from so-called Black Power activists in Indigenous Australia. The campaign fed off the fear and ignorance of white Australians regarding black people everywhere, and Aboriginal Australia in particular. That media misinformation campaign has only been equalled in recent times with the current scare campaign about supposed Islamic "terrorism". |
